My dachshund carried it around the whole evening and would not put it down. Watching a sausage dog trot down the hallway with big red lips is now the funniest thing that has ever happened in this flat.
he has no idea
He picks it up because it is a chew toy. He holds it in his mouth because that is what dogs do with chew toys. And then he turns around and looks at you, and he is a small furry man with enormous glossy red lips and two front teeth.
He does not know. That is the best part. He is standing there completely serious, waiting for you to throw it, while you are on the floor unable to breathe.
the photo you will send to everyone you know
The red is loud enough to read instantly on a phone screen, so you do not need good light or a good camera. Point, shoot, send. The joke lands in under a second because there is nothing to explain â it is a dog with lips.
People buy this for the toy. They keep it because of the camera roll. Birthdays, Christmas cards, the profile picture your friend refuses to change back.
a gag that is also a real toy
It is one solid piece of bite-resistant silicone in a single glossy red. No stitched seams to unpick, no squeaker box to hunt down at 2am, no stuffing to redecorate your hallway with. The teeth are moulded in, not glued on.
Cleaning is a rinse under the tap or the top rack of the dishwasher. Because it is one piece with nothing porous inside, it does not hold water or go funky the way a plush toy does after a week.
the honest bit
The lips are about 5cm across, which is the sweet spot for small and small-to-medium dogs â think dachshund, pug, shih tzu, cocker spaniel, mini schnauzer. On a very tiny teacup breed it can be a mouthful, and on a large powerful dog it is too small to be a sensible chew.
Treat it like any other chew toy: supervise play, take it away and replace it if it gets torn, gouged or chewed down, and do not leave a determined destroyer alone with it. It is a photo-op toy and a light chew â it is not a substitute for a proper heavy-duty chew for an aggressive chewer.

Got one photo of my pug sitting on the sofa with the lips in, staring dead into the camera, and I have sent it to nineteen people. Four of them ordered one. My mother has it as her lock screen.

Cocker spaniel slobber means this goes in the dishwasher twice a week, top rack, and after about a month the red has not faded or gone chalky at all. Half a star off only because it comes out very hot.

My beagle completely ignored it for two days, sniffed it once and walked off. Then I rubbed a bit of peanut butter on it and now it is his. He brings it to the door when someone knocks.

Honest note: too big for my teacup chihuahua, she could not get her jaw around it properly. My other dog, a shih tzu, holds it perfectly. So check your dog's mouth before you order for a very tiny breed.

One full week with a mini schnauzer who destroys plush toys in an afternoon and there is not a single tear in it. A few tooth dents on the underside, nothing more. That alone was worth the seventeen dollars.

Bought three: one for our own dog and two as secret santa gifts for people at work with dogs. Best twelve dollars a head I have ever spent on a gift. Both of them sent photos back within the hour.

My shih tzu took it to bed with him on night one and has slept with it every night since. I did not expect a joke toy to become the comfort item, but here we are, and he looks unhinged doing it.

The exact photo I got: my westie mid-yawn with the lips halfway out, so it looks like he is singing opera. It is framed in the kitchen now. My partner thinks I have lost it and he is not wrong.

French bulldog, supervised play only, about ten minutes at a time. Lasted six weeks before the edge got chewed rough enough that I binned it and used the spare from the two pack. Buy two, you will want the spare.
